Crazy for...

Well will see if my memory is good enough to do this update, so much happened it is hard to keep it all in order as well!

I got back to the UK on Friday the 8th, unfortunately my hosts were going to be very busy on the Saturday and Sunday, so left to my own devices on Saturday and having not been able to arrange any meets for the day, I took off early from Amersham to spend the day in London town - no plan, just me, a camera and an idea that going to Greenwich might be nice at some point.
Luckily caught the Chiltern line to Marylebone as the Met line was shut - nothing changed since I lived here then!.

Arriving at the station, I decided to head towards the Embankment, so a couple of tubes later - and oh the joy of a still functioning Oyster card! - I arrived and took a wander up towards the London Eye across the river, first thing I found was the amazing Battle of Britain memorial, a superb piece of art and the start of a project for the day... all the photos are here

On reaching the London Eye it seems as if they have installed an "Extreme Pod" I guess for all those bungee jumping extreme sport type tourists...

During the day I came across some wonderful architectural displays, and some amazing "hidden" artworks, so what started as a stroll along the embankment turned into a hike all the way to Surrey Quays, then a tube to Greenwich Peninsular and the Dome, then another hike up to Greenwich Observatory.

Some selected images from the day here, more at the album

Deer, deer me...

Having had the shock of my life Friday night whilst on the phone - stepped out the door to come face to muzzle with a deer under the cherry tree - my little(?) friend returned Sunday afternoon.
And this time I had my camera to hand, only got a few pics as having been basking in the sun I was ill clothed to go deer stalking, well pretty much nil clothed but we won't go into that.

So a few shots of said deer, I think I will call her Delphine...

She seems to have taken a real liking to the Mulberry tree, not sure if it is the fruit, the leaves or both though, no doubt when I find I have just bare branches I will know!!

She also sampled the cherries that had fallen on the ground, I expect to see a somewhat drunk Delphine wobbly around the garden at a later date...

The final shot could have been superb... However I don't think I will be able to remove the tree in photoshop, it is not like the odd wrinkle or wayward hair...
I guess I need to be more aware of where the trees are planted!!!

Two bees or not two bees

Had to just pop a couple of new pictures up. Had the gardeners in today - no not a euphemism - and once the grass was cut the son was showing me where all the orchids were...

So below is a Bee Orchid - only one in the garden as he didn't quite miss the other one, and a Pyramid Orchid dozens in the garden. I don't think I need to explain which one is the Bee Orchid... Do I?

Spring 2010

A few shots from around the garden. I am going to start doing some writing as well!!!! Have at least three months to catch up on and loads of pictures and events to catalogue... Oh what joy I hear you cry!!

Parents arrived on Thursday, and since then the weather has gone from 26(80) in the shade (40(104) by the pool) to about 19(66) today - ooh is that an omen of the world cup...

So I do promise to make more effort, and do some regular updates.
